چکیده

Background Recent survey data indicate that some people report long-term improvement in color vision deficiency (CVD), also known as blindness, following use of psychedelics such lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and psilocybin. However, there are no objective reported the medical literature quantifying degree or duration CVD associated with psychedelic use. Case presentation Here we present case a subject red-green (mild deuteranomalia) who self-administered Ishihara Test to quantify 5 g dried psilocybin mushrooms. Self-reported from revealed partial peaking at 8 days persisting for least 16 post-psilocybin administration. This may have lasted longer, though subsequent observations confounded by additional substance Conclusion A single produce improvements extending beyond period acute effect, despite this condition typically resulting genetic defect. Systematic exploration possible phenomenon is needed confirm our findings, gauge their generalizability, determine mechanism action.

Red-Green Color Vision Deficiency and Lack of Awareness among Rural School Students in India

Color vision deficiency (CVD) occurs when there is an error in the development of one or more types of retinal cone cells that receive color in light and transmit that information to the optic nerve (1). Among them, red-green CVD shows the highest prevalence (2). Red-Green CVD is divisible into severe or dichromatic forms [protanopia and deu-teranopia] and milder or anomalous trichromatic forms...

Cone Photoreceptor Structure in Patients With X-Linked Cone Dysfunction and Red-Green Color Vision Deficiency

PURPOSE Mutations in the coding sequence of the L and M opsin genes are often associated with X-linked cone dysfunction (such as Bornholm Eye Disease, BED), though the exact color vision phenotype associated with these disorders is variable. We examined individuals with L/M opsin gene mutations to clarify the link between color vision deficiency and cone dysfunction. METHODS We recruited 17 m...
